The Museum

The Fort Liezele Museum highlights the development of Belgian national defense, which took on a specific form after the fall of Napoleon and Belgian independence. It outlines Antwerp's role as the country's military capital and the construction of the fortress belts to protect the city.

The museum provides an overview of the military operations during the siege of Fortress Antwerp, up to the fall of the city on Oct. 10, 1914.

Interactive experience

Clear models, interactive displays, virtual reality and audiovisual montages with authentic footage support the impressive museum collection.

The mystical atmosphere of the building, with its redecorated classrooms and gun turrets, creates a high experiential value that transports the visitor back in time!

Accessibility

No appropriate footwear or special attire is required to visit the Fort Liezele Museum. Just keep in mind that it can be a little cool in our hallways.

Most of the museum is on the ground floor and is perfectly accessible. Only the large gun turret is at the top of a small staircase and is therefore visible, but not accessible to wheelchair users.
